Stats show 1000 hits per day - stable but set to double with server move Hardly awesome but enough to worry some folks it seems. We will be moving servers pretty soon and will see a migration to better tools for both Positive Vetting and Negative Vetting of potential solicitors - we should also see more hits. This site will be two years old on 11th September... if only I had more TIME to devote to it. |

Some grim warnings - readers web-sites - worth a look Ouch ... take a look at these two ... Judges and Courts - WARNING - here "... Criminality within the judicial system Court of Appeal Hearing on 20th. May (A2/2009/2293 & 2666) against a range of Queen's Bench judges and others - these include Judge Eady and many other judges." Note 10/06/2010 - the top link has disappeared. The content was damning. The various caches have gone too (rather quick?) - this is worrying. A few "problems" here too ... click |

New pages a success - and still only half-done... The SRA may be a failure and only 2% referred to the SDT (see below 08/03/2010) - but even 2% is a whole LOT of names. The new "Avoid By Name" pages have already generated 1000's of hits and they're less than half done. We now have an alphabetical directory (A to Z) with over 2000 names which links to publications by the SRA and the SDT. Where are they now? Who employs them? Do you NEED to take the risk? This list is groWING! - so check back if you plan to Choose and Use a solicitor.

High Court says "No" to LCS Staff in the new Office of Legal Complaints (OLC) Legal Complaints Services

for handling legal complaints is not legally required to employ them. |

It's Official - only 2% of cases get referred to the SDT from the SRA These
are official figures from the Solicitors Regulation Authority
(SRA). There is more in that spreadsheet too ... 86% to 90% of
complaints resulted in an unsatisfactory result for the complainant and
yet Only 8% of them went on to complain to the LSO! |

New Page Added - Protesting cover-up by the a High Court Judge In the High Court of Justice - His Honour Judge John Mitchell decided AGAINST sending my case to the Court of Appeal - despite the lack of any case law to back his incoherent mutterings. Site News - On 18th November I was asked to "obfuscate" my Logo As I said originally I would much rather the LCS/SRA (Law Society) devoted its time to resolving complaints against solicitors. However, it seems they have time and money to spend employing SOLICITORS to write (not to ME but) to my ISP asking me to change the logo I have been using on this site since the beginning in 2008 (over a year) - my answer. |

High Court of Justice - Monday 16th November 2009 - Witnesses and Help! Wanted! The courts are supposed to be THE primary "regulator" of solicitors who are the Queen's "officers of the court". At the hearing on Monday 16th November in the Principal Registry of the Family Division, Gee Street Court House, His Honour Judge Mitchell will be called upon in this role. I will be arguing that Her Majesty the Queen would not want Her people to be cheated by Her officers of the court. The hearing will be in public. You are welcome to attend. After 16/11/2009 I will publish his judgement and my Skeleton Arguments here. Please come, and please circulate the link. I aim to be in Gee Street by 9:00am. |

New Site dealing with Norton Peskett Solicitors One very determined individual by the sound of things - he says... "My main URL is nortonpeskett.com". However, they are in the process of trying to take this domain name away from me with a UDRP dispute at WIPO. Just in case they succeed I also have backups at "nortonpeskett.us" and "norpes.co.uk" |

SRA finally sends (some of) the "file" to the OLSO ... But the CD-ROM "doesn't work" ... more (this link 08/06/2009 - email 01/06/2009) Will update ... though don't hold your breath... it seems the ZIP file worked, though :-) |

After 3 months ... finally some movement from the SRA? NO! Just MORE DELAYS!! But are these latest delays really as they seem? Is it really the SRA asking for their file to answer one small question... or did the OLSO ASK them to? I guess I'm just a suspicious old fart... judge for yourself. |

Small update from the OLSO - Kath Welton - Corporate Services Manager Her email of 23/04/2009 here together with my reply. Additional follow up request (with request for Internal Review) here. Make of it what you will. I will hopefully get a BETTER reply though I'm willing to bet that Ms. Zahida Manzoor, CBE doesn't reply. Any takers? |

The Ministry of Justice ... a further e-mail from Chris Nichols of the MOJ Clear and informative answer on OLSO, their relationship with the Government etc. The trouble IS (for me at least) I STILL don't fully understand the dual role Ms. Manzoor has as BOTH LSO and LSCC - also Who IS Ms. Manzoor accountable to? Poor old Chris Nichols ... I'm bothering him again ... it's a shame the "penalty" for giving good answers is to be asked for more of them. The excellence of his answers is acknowledged. Share and enjoy! Also ... A question for the OLSO - here - answers by 19th May, please |

After 2 months ... finally some movement from the SRA... It has take one helluva-lot of email "nagging" but the SRA has finally sent it's file to the OLSO to allow them to investigate. Their letter of 16/04/2009 here and my response to both SRA and OLSO here |

The Ministry of Justice ... an email from Chris Nichols of the MOJ It seems Jack Straw (amongst other MP's) decided to forward my "SPAM" to the MOJ on or around 10th March 2009. Scroll down in the linked email to see the "SPAM" I sent to ALL MP's. The MOJ assigned a case number (here). The response from Chris Nichols does not offer any practical help (I have asked for this in my reply at the top) but he does lay out the Government Plans ... which may be of interest. Out of interest, the "acknowledgement" at the very top is from the OLSO (whom I also CC'd) ... nothing (so far) from my own MP, Dan Norris, who was also on the CC list and to whom several MP's forwarded my (somewhat tongue in cheek) "SPAM" - enjoy and I will update as I hear more... |

Protest in London - short notice, I know... (but I only got the email yesterday) Please
attend the London Protest (FOR JUSTICE) on 1st and 2nd April
2009 THE BATTLE BUS IS COMING TO THE PROTEST, SO PLEASE BE THERE WITH IT: This also came with an attachment (in MS Word format) from the American Irish News December 2008. More about the Inland Revenue than mal-practicing solicitors but still an interesting and long-running saga of injustice. Nice reference to Vince Cable MP who has been extremely helpful here too. Congratulations also to Philip Inman of the Guardian Newspaper - we need more like you :-) Some very interesting links as well. I have rendered it into html - all rights of the authors are acknowledged, please contact me if you object. (More...) |

Here - just no real home for it... I feel an "Interim Report" coming on if ONLY because of the ABSOLUTE CRAP the so-called SRA tried to palm me off with (see Most Inept Letter Ever) - I got a bit ticked off and wrote to all the MP's - NOT perhaps the best letter in the world - a misguided attempt at satire, maybe ... well, if the SRA can look this BAD and not give a stuff, then ANYTHING I write is sensible by comparison (or so it seems to me) ... anyway, it DID get a couple of responses and it's been forwarded to the Ministry of Justice (and my MP) for what it's worth. MoJ is Government - no idea WHAT they will say... but watch this space... just don't know where else to put this until I have a bit of a re-organisation. Hmm.... please yell if you need more info. |

The Times - 10/02/2009 - Avoiding Complaints - Solicitors & Judges... Judges and solicitors under scrutiny ... somewhat critical ... Longish article... amusing (sad but true) closing paragraphs ... Even February 14 has an angle for lawyers. Valentine's Day is one of the most popular days to say "I will". But the Law Society has delivered a dollop of unromantic realism. Few couples think of the legal implications of setting up home together, it says. So the message, unsurprisingly, is see a lawyer... Happy Valentine's Day indeed!!! Oh! ... and to the Lady who e-mailed earlier this week... Good Luck in Court (today, Friday the 13th) - excellent fighting spirit - am so glad you liked the Tale of the Singing Horse :-) |

Legal Regulation Review - An independent review of the regulation of law firms, led by the Rt. Hon. Lord Hunt of Wirral MBE - Is this the chance to have your say? Lord Hunt told The Lawyer: "I want my inbox to be as full as possible. This is the moment when people should speak out about how the profession should be regulated in this rapidly changing environment." The consultation period will end on Thursday 9 April 2009. You don't have long. |

UnjustIS "news" pages getting lots of hits (even after all this time) It is interesting to see the hard work of Paul Bantock is still being read. A quick trawl of the server logs shows a great deal of interest - not just the Which? Reports (these are popular) but also many of the news articles. A quick Google search to see who might be linking to lcs-test (and to see what they are linking to) turned up the example on the right. |

Colchester: Family speak out over thieving solicitor - Nov. 2008 A story I missed in November last year (so hardly "news" to the purists out there) - still news to me, a FURTHER example AND a real warning ... these crooks need to be properly regulated to prevent this kind of thing happening in the first place. How many more DON'T get caught due to Willing Blindness? |

Various New Pages... It is taking a long time to flesh-out this site and I realise I've neglected the "News" page. A number of the links (on the left if you are using the frames version) are beginning to take shape. There are still some placeholders, and still a LOT to do on may that are beginning to come together ... but progress IS being made and visitors are on the increase. So... a sort-of apology to anyone who just checks this page to check for updates. If anyone is interested in RSS feeds, please yell. Happy New Year :-) Late? Is it ever too late to wish happiness? |

Nigel Long Fined £5,000 plus £500 costs by ALCD In actual fact I became aware of this in mid November (the linked letter is dated 12th) but have not had time to do an update. Top marks to the ALCD - I owe readers an update and hope to tackle this (along with MANY other updates) over the Christmas break. If a small and relatively new organisation like the ALCD can do it, why couldn't the OSS/CCS? Ok ... this small success spurs me on to give the LCS/SRA a proper crack at the whip. The complaint is prepared, at least in outline, and will be posted tomorrow... update here ASAP. |

On-line Complaints Plan On Hold - Thursday 09 October 2008 by Deven Pamben Controversial plans to publish complaints against solicitors online have been shelved. In a long-awaited decision, the Legal Complaints Service (LCS) this week said it still favours the idea – but passed responsibility for any scheme to its successor body, which comes into being in 2010. Comment - thank goodness for www.lcs-test.co.uk ? Survey Results
OLSCC Press Statement - October 2008 (excerpt) “I have always believed that, in principle, the publication of solicitors' complaints records is the way ahead. Consumers should be able to access a wide range of information on firms and individuals before they appoint a solicitor..." The first of these went out in the early hours of 30/09/2008 with thanks due to CASIA and the Divorce Solicitor Trap. Today we also received our first enquiry from a gentleman who found us on Google! In planning this site the original intention was to provide a simple link to Paul Bantock's excellent "News Roundup", simply because this was better than anything I could hope to achieve. On 1st September Paul retired and UnjustIS was officially closed... though it is still pointing to the Wayback Machine |
| I have taken the liberty of "caching"
the News Roundup which collects related articles from 1996 to July 2008
and may be useful to anyone trying to find a solicitor or firm to AVOID.
This also led me to wonder what to do with the Miners Claims News? I've included that too, with a (sort of) apology here. I would welcome any help on keeping "News" up-to-date??? |
